BackStudent Prayer Team
Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen on your walls; they will never be silent, day or night. There is no rest for you, who remind the Lord. Do not give Him rest until He establishes and makes Jerusalem the praise of the earth. —Isaiah 62:6-7 (HCSB)
When God established Jerusalem, He placed watchmen on the walls surrounding the city. They looked out for approaching enemies and were charged to “remind the Lord” to “make us a city of praise on the earth.”
You are Brentwood Baptist watchmen standing on the wall, committed to encourage and pray for our students by name, asking for strength, wisdom, and purity so they'll make much of Him with their lives.
Daily Focus Words
There are daily focus words to help direct your prayers each day. They are:
- Servant Leadership
- Absolute Truth
These areas are emphasized to our students in their Sunday and Wednesday night Bible studies.
The Bible verses below will help guide your prayers. Each reference has been selected to coincide with the daily focus words and help you in your prayer time.
"We all have wandered away like sheep; each of us has gone his own way. But the Lord has put on him the punishment for all the evil we have done." -Isaiah 53:6 (NCV)
"For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin." -Hebrews 4:15 (ESV)
"The Lord hates those who tell lies but is pleased with those who keep their promises." -Proverbs 12:22 (NCV)
"The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth." -Psalm 145:18 (ESV)
"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh." -Ezekiel 36:26-29 (NKJV)
"Tell them to hope in God, not in their uncertain riches. God richly gives us everything to enjoy." -1 Timothy 6:17 (NCV)
"First, I tell you to pray for all people, asking God for what they need and being thankful to him. Pray for rulers and for all who have authority so that we can have quiet and peaceful lives full of worship and respect for God." -1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NCV)
