Brentwood Baptist members have answered the call of hurting people once again through last week's Haiti relief efforts.

Last week, following in the footsteps of the tragic earthquake that destroyed Port-au-Prince, Haiti and surrounding areas, our members responded in a relief effort to help provide food and supplies for thousands of orphans and people who are now homeless, wounded, and mourning the loss of family members. This effort was in partnership with Sweet Sleep—a Hope for the World Missions Offering partner that provides beds and ministers to the orphans of the world.

Scott Harris, Missions Minister at Brentwood Baptist, said, "We want to connect people to Jesus Christ as we minister in grace and love to the people of Haiti. Disasters are called disasters for a reason. They never happen at a good time and rarely do they have a positive outcome. But, in our own way, in this corner of the world, we've seen amazing things happen."

We received the following e-mail last week from the pastor of an orphanage that supplies were sent to:

Dear friends,
I'm alive! Thank you to everyone who thought of me—especially you. Thanks to God, I am alive as well as all the children in the orphanage, except that my office collapsed. My secretary lost her life and her funeral took place this afternoon. All of the fences at the orphanage are broken. Thank you again. May God in His mercy fill you with blessings.
Your friend,
Lesly Tilus

Already, supplies given by our members are on their way to Haiti. "I want to thank our members for their ongoing involvement and generosity to the Haiti relief efforts," Scott said. "You continue to give. You continue to pray. We've had an incredible drive to help Haitians."
