Name: Jay Fennell
Title: Adult Minister – Groups
Where are you from originally?
Irmo, South Carolina
What schools did you graduate from?
University of South Carolina
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
What's your personal testimony?
I came to faith at 12 years old through the mentoring and ministry of godly adult leaders in the preschool/children's ministry at my home church. All the stories I learned about God from the Bible—and the truth imparted to me from those leaders—created a desire to know Him more. I shared with my parents my desire to follow Christ and they scheduled a meeting with the pastor to explain the gospel. I understood my need for a Savior because I couldn't save myself. Then I surrendered my life to Jesus and was baptized.
What's your wife's name?
Do you have kids? If so, how many?
I have three kids.
What's your philosophy and heartbeat for ministry?
We're made for relationships, and spiritual growth happens best in community with others.
Where did you serve before Brentwood Baptist?
Lexington Baptist Church in Lexington, South Carolina
What's your role at Brentwood Baptist?
I oversee and lead adult groups—primarily all adult LIFE Groups.
What's your vision for Brentwood Baptist?
That we'd make disciples who greatly impact our community and the world for Christ. Also, that these disciples would be made through LIFE Group environments where people intentionally love each other, do life together, focus on God's Word, and engage the world.
What's one cool God-story from your time here?
God has used new leaders and the formation of new groups to reach unconnected people. We've been able to start a handful of new LIFE Groups in the last year, each of which have met needs of people who are looking for a closer connection to God and meaningful relationships with others.
JUST FOR FUN

What do you want me to learn?
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy sailing my sunfish sailboat on Percy Priest Lake and spending time with my family.
