Manifest Destiny
Matthew 6:19-24
This week, we continue our series I Pledge Allegiance, continuing to look carefully at those places in our lives where the "American Dream" competes with the kingdom of God.
Which kingdom are you investing in? Where does your affection go? Where do you put your money, your time, your energies? Are you building a little kingdom of your own, fashioned by the "American Dream"? Or are you building the kingdom of God?
There's nothing wrong with wealth, talents, or opportunities; it's what we do with those things that betray which kingdom we're building. It's not a matter of having or not having; it's a matter of what has you. Are you defined by what you have? Or do you consider what God may be trusting you with those things for? Do you think you're an owner or do you see yourself as a steward?
