For those job-seekers who attended today's Kairos Career Fair from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Connection Center, things probably started looking up in their hunt for a new career venture.

This free, Kairos-sponsored "Do Work, Do Life" event hosted more than 50 companies, banks, educational institutions, and local organizations who showed up to connect with more than 500 people who registered and attended to network with the potential employers.

Those attending came dressed to impress with resumes in hand and had great success as they mingled through the booths set up in Hudson Hall and chatted with a range of organizations—from Regions Bank to the United States Army and Marines, Lifeway Christian Resources to The Dave Ramsey Show, and Shelter Insurance to The A Group: Marketing and Media.

While most organizations discussed job opportunities, some even offered volunteer opportunities—especially Brentwood Baptist ministry partners like Mercy Ministries, Graceworks Ministries, The Shalom Foundation, The Tennessee Baptist Children's Home, and Hope Clinic for Women.

Bill Prince, a Brentwood Baptist member and volunteer at Youth Encouragement Services (Y.E.S.), volunteered his day to man the ministry's booth and recruit other volunteers. According to him, at least 30 people stopped by to find out how they could get involved in tutoring, preparing snacks for kids, and more.

In addition, various educational institutions, such as Union University, The Nashville School of Law, The University of Tennessee, The University of Alabama, Nashville-based colleges and universities, Dallas Theological Seminary, Liberty University, and more, featured various programs and academic enhancement for those looking to move into higher learning.

Reagan Wallbaum, a 33-year-old student attending Tennessee Technology Center who attended today's fair, is weeks away from graduating from their computer and graphics program and looking for engineer-related work.

He said, "About nine years ago, I graduated with a bachelor's degree from MTSU (Middle Tennessee State University), but I've always been fascinated by engineering and knew it was what I needed to be doing the whole time. I made some great contacts today and talked to a couple of recruiters. It's been very helpful. I plan on contacting them again and see where it goes."
