Brentwood Young Children’s School is a Christ-centered program
designed to offer a comfortable first step into the world of group education for
young children. Brentwood Young Children’s School is an integral part
of the total ministry of Brentwood Baptist Church. To learn more, download our brochure, or read below.
Our Purpose
The mission of the school is to utilize the full resources of Brentwood
Baptist Church and the community in providing programs designed to meet the
developmental needs (spiritual, emotional, physical, intellectual and social) of
young children and provide an effective ministry to their families.
Ages
Brentwood Young Children’s School has classes for children ages six
months through pre-kindergarten. Children must be six months old by August 31 to
participate in the Parent’s Day Out (2-day PDO) program. Children must
be three years old by September 30 (and completely potty trained) to participate
in the Preschool program (3- or 5-day).
Admission
A registration form and registration fee of $50 must be submitted for your
child to be considered for admission. You will be contacted as soon as a place
becomes available. If there are no openings available, then your child will be
placed on our waiting list. All other forms (including immunization records)
must be turned in to our office before the first day your child is to attend
BYCS.
If you have any questions about our program or would like to schedule a
visit, you may contact us for an appointment time. We conduct tours of the
program on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. Please call 324.6117 or email BYCS@brentwoodbaptist.com for an
appointment.

Q: What would a typical day be like for my child at BYCS?
A: BYCS offers tours on most Thursdays when school is in session at 10:00,
10:30 and 11:00 a.m. for you to get a good picture of what is typical. We will
also be happy to provide you with a schedule that is used in our classroom for
your child’s age.
Q: Is your program licensed?
A: Our weekday 3-day and 5-day program is licensed. We received a three-star
rating, which is the highest rating given by the state of Tennessee. Our Parents
Day Out program, which is our 2-day program, is not required to be licensed
because it only meets for a total of 11.5 hours per week. However, we follow the
same guidelines for quality and safety in our 2-day program that we have for our
3-day and 5-day classes. The teachers in both programs are well-qualified and
take 12 to 30 hours of continuing education every year.
Q: I have been on the waiting list for six months. What are my chances of
getting my two-year- old in this year?
A: We update our waiting list at least twice a year. Unfortunately, we cannot
predict the future in knowing if there will be changes in our enrollment until a
family notifies us. As soon as we receive a written notice that a child is
leaving the program, we will notify the family of the next child on the waiting
list.
Q: What does it mean that my child can be put on a waiting list?
A: If our classes fill up during registration, we will put your child on our
waiting list based on when the registration form was received. There is a $10
fee to be placed on the waiting list.
Q: I have called during the day to get information on your program and I get
a recorded message. How can I get this information?
A: We are sorry we cannot always be reached immediately in our office as we
are very committed during the day to assisting our teachers and children. If it
is an emergency, please leave a message and your call will be returned ASAP. If
you are simply wanting information about our weekday program, you may also visit
our website at www.brentwoodbaptist.com or send us an email at BYCS@brentwoodbaptist.com. This

Q: I am a member of Brentwood Baptist Church. We are currently not in the
BYCS program. Are we guaranteed a spot for the next school year?
A: No, unfortunately not. Children currently enrolled in BYCS are the only
ones who are guaranteed a spot for the next school year. Church members are the
next group that fill the spots not taken by our current enrollment.
Q: How are children assigned to classes at BYCS?
A: Children are placed by date of birth with other children who are within a
few months of their age.
Q: I have heard of Summer Play Days. How do I register for that?
A: Summer Play Days is a separate program during the summer months that is
not affiliated with BYCS. Registration is done separately for Summer Play Days
on a first come, first served basis. Information about Summer Play Days will be
available on the church website and mailed out to previous participants and
those who attend Brentwood Baptist Church. Registration for SPD will take place
in March of each year.
