Brentwood Baptist wants to pray for you and with you.

Prayer Workshop Series

Prayer Pathways for the Journey of Your Life

This series features four opportunities to study, learn, grow, and enhance your prayer life. Ultimately, it will enrich your conversation with God in every aspect of your life and ministry. Each session is free, but registration is appreciated.

Pathway 1: Praying for the Unconnected
We must pray for the lost. Praying for the unconnected could mean asking for the salvation of your family and friends. This kind of prayer teaches us an essential to the faith. This event has already taken place this year. Watch for details about other Pathway 1 opportunities.

Pathway 2: Praying While You Walk
Enhance your personal prayer life and impact the lives of others by using this recreational activity as time to intercede on their behalf. Sarah Lowe, Regional Director for the National Day of Prayer, will lead this second pathway.

Pathway 3: Teaching Your Children to Pray
Prayer is taught and learned. We understand it more when we do it. That's why these lessons should be taught in the home while your children are young. In this pathway, parents will learn how to teach their children to pray. We'll gather for a general session followed by age-appropriate breakout session led by various ministries.

Pathway 4: Praying for Spiritual Awakening and Kingdom Purposes
Jesus prayed and instructed us to pray that God's kingdom would come. So what does that mean? What does that look like? In this session, learn how to move beyond praying for everyday things toward praying for kingdom agendas and purposes. John Franklin, pastor and author, will wrap up this four-part series.

To register, call Gayle Haywood at 615.324.6133 or e-mail ghaywood@brentwoodbaptist.com.

House Blessings

Unless the LORD builds a house, its builders labor over it in vain...
—Psalm 127:1

This ministry supports families by consecrating their homes for the glory of God. Included in the blessing of the home are the reading of Scripture, songs of worship, responsive readings, and prayer.

If you'd like to participate in this ministry, if you'd like us to help dedicate your home to the Lord, or if you'd like more details about what we do, please contact Tom McMinn at 591.2957 or mcminn@comcast.net.

X17

The X17 Team is based on the story in Exodus 17.

Aaron and Hur helped hold up Moses’ hands during the battle. As long as his hands were elevated, the Israelites won the battle. But when his arms became tired and dropped, the Israelites lost the battle. With Aaron’s and Hur’s help, Moses led Israel to defeat the Amalekites.

Mike Glenn has asked people who have a significant commitment to prayer to join this team in praying for him and the other worship leaders during our services on Sunday mornings. Many of the issues we face in our church are spiritual issues, and as such, require spiritual answers.

The X17 Team gathers in the choir room every Sunday and is committed to pray as both worship services take place. If you feel called to participate in this vital ministry, then you are most welcome.

P.I.T. Crew

The idea of a personal intercessory prayer team for pastors and Christian leaders is not new. Moses, Aaron, and Hur served as an intercessory prayer team for Joshua in the battle of Amalek (Exodus 17). An intercessory prayer team made the difference between victory and defeat for Joshua and for the nation of Israel.

In the New Testament, Jesus prayed for Simon Peter. Jesus said, “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith will not fail.” Satan still desires to sift pastors and Christian leaders like wheat. As Jesus did, we must pray for leaders that they will not become discouraged or disheartened.

If you are interested in becoming a part of the Prayer Inercessory Team (or P.I.T. Crew) contact Gayle Haywood [mailto:ghaywood@brentwoodbaptist.com].

The Lighthouse Prayer Ministry

The Lighthouse Prayer Ministry consists of people who are committed to intentionally pray for, care for and share the gospel with individuals in their neighborhood or community. Participants commit to pray for five neighbors, for five days a week, for five weeks. To designate your home as a Lighthouse of prayer, contact prayerrequests@brentwoodbaptist.com.

Missions Prayer and Share

Each Sunday afternoon at 4:00 PM, individuals “tap into God’s infinite resources” by gathering in RM 1150 to pray for our missionaries, our church’s mission projects and mission journeys.
