Instrumental Ministry

This diverse ministry is made up of instrumentalists from many ages, races, abilities, and backgrounds. They range in age from about 10 to 85, and originate from all over the world.

There are teachers, lawyers, students, homemakers, accountants, realtors, doctors, sales people, and even some professional musicians in our group. But what brings us together is our worship of Jesus Christ. It unifies us, encourages us in our diversity, and transforms us into a single unit that is able to accomplish what none of us could do individually!

  • Orchestra

This group consists of all band and orchestra instruments as well as keyboards, guitars, and drums. These people make up our primary instrumental worship group, leading our congregation in worship on Sundays and special worship services. In addition this group also plays outside our church at community events, malls, and on mission trips.

    Rehearsals:

Wednesdays from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm in the Orchestra Room (#1709)

This rehearsal is for all adult instrumentalists that are involved in the Orchestra. (Rhythm Section players that are scheduled on the coming Sunday are needed at this rehearsal.) Music for both the upcoming weekend and future dates are rehearsed.

    Soundcheck:

Full Orchestra meets at 8:15 am on Sunday mornings for a sound check and run-through of all the worship music, including any transitions. (The Rhythm Section meets at 8:00 am to set levels and go over any additional music.)

  • Praise Band

This group consists of Rhythm Section, Trumpets, Saxes, and Trombones and plays music styles such as those played by school jazz ensembles. The BBC Praise Band plays both here on-campus and also at community events, such as prayer breakfasts, mall concerts, and graduations.

  • Student Orchestra

This group consists of Band and Orchestral instruments, as well as keyboards, guitars, and drums. The BBC Student Orchestra plays in worship services several times each year and is designed to encourage students to become instrumental leaders in worship as they grow.

This group meets for 6 to 8 weeks at a time (called a “session”), in spring, summer and fall. In order to place individuals in sections, there is a short placement audition consisting of 3 major scales (student’s choice) and sight-reading (director’s choice). This helps to know which parts the students are able to play.

    Rehearsals:

Sundays (as announced) from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the Orchestra Room (#1709)
